all tracks written by Pete Namlook and Tetsu Inoue

I hadn't heard any of this before I bought the collection. Being confronted with all material in one go, I have to say it's quite a lot to stomach. A lot of it is very empty -- with ambient, not necessarily a bad thing, but in this case, it makes getting a feel for the music all that harder. There does seem to be a progression over the releases toward a fuller, less ethereal sound. All music here is beatless and very slowly evolving.

I am a huge fan of Tetsu Inoue and try to get hold of all of his work. These collaborations with Namlook are classic Fax, so I'm happy to have them now. All material is in the same vein here, and there aren't any weak tracks. My favourites are The Invisible Landscape, Morning Light and Hear the Light. You can hear Inoue here as he sounds on World Receiver, my favourite of his solo cd's. The last track, Rich Dreams, stands out because of the synth solo and a groove of sorts -- as if finally Namlook wants to leave his imprint on this collection too.
